Chatterbox
This movie was a Hollywood legend, passed around from hand to hand for
years before video allowed wider distribution as a cult film. It
thoroughly lambastes the conventions of movie making, as well as
various cliches of pop culture. The late-night TV show that brings
the protagonist's vagina (which has at this point learned to sing) on
as a guest, with the woman herself just along for the ride standing on
a podium with a microphone at her crotch, completely captures the most
prurient and soul-destroying aspects of the entertainment machine.
What is brilliant about this movie is that it doesn't go crazy on the
premise, instead it systematically explores exactly how Hollywood
would treat this talking wonder, managing to capture how it treats
women in general, and in fact people in general. Yet they keep a deft
and light touch, and scene after scene is outrageously funny.
